The name MOJO comes from the founders Mo Tackett and John Tackett. Mo at the age of 13 got into skateboarding with his neighborhood friends. Like most skaters during the '90's they found themselves looking for cool places to skate. Before long Mo and his crew began building their own ramps and fun boxes out of wood.

Finally, the Christmas of 98' Mo asked his Dad (John Tackett) for a grinding rail for Christmas. John was a small manufacturer based out of Tempe specializing in steel products. John asked a playground manufacturer who was a friend of his to build a grinding rail. They did so and a couple days before Christmas Mo and his brother picked up the rail. The prototype was roughly 20 ft long and had a sloping bend in the middle. The rail didn't have adjustable heights and no powder coating. Just galvanized round tubing for construction.

Within days every skater in a 5-mile radius was skating in Mo's driveway. John being the adventurous entrepreneur that he is recognized the demand for this type of product. He then took Mo down to his metal shop and with the help of his chief designer (Ryan Bollschweiler) laid out the plans for a grind rail that could be shipped relatively inexpensive and marketed to the public.

The idea paid off when John landed the first account with CCS catalog and launched Mojo into the mainstream skateboard industry.

Today Mojo Rails, Inc. is still located in Tempe, AZ. We are still a family run business. However, we have expanded the product line from one size rail to grind rails of any shape and size to ramps and quarter pipes. Mojo Rails has seen a lot of growth over the years and has been able to survive changes in the skateboard market. One thing is for sure Mojo Rails, Inc. will be on the cutting edge of the skateboard industry.
